Yemen"s internationally recognized government and the Iran-backed Houthi militia have reached an agreement for a significant prisoner exchange involving nearly 3,000 detainees. The exchange will involve 1,700 individuals linked to the Houthi militia in exchange for 1,200 detainees from the government side, which includes Saudis and Sudanese nationals.
This deal was mediated by Oman and has received backing from the United Nations. It represents a rare humanitarian step toward de-escalation in the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
