The blast occurred on Yeletskaya Street when officers approached a suspicious individual near their patrol vehicle, triggering an explosive device. The incident took place less than half a mile from Yasenevaya Street, where Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a car bomb attack on December 22.
