Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has ceased production of the Legend-Class National Security Cutter (NSC) for the U.S. Coast Guard earlier this year. The company has produced a total of ten ships of this class. The first ship of a new class of frigates, which is based on the NSC, is not expected to be completed until 2030 or later. This delay is attributed to ongoing production issues and a backlog of ships at HII.
