Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine"s decision to join NATO is ultimately up to NATO member countries. He made these remarks during a meeting with journalists, emphasizing that the peace plan he presented does not require Ukraine to refrain from pursuing NATO membership.
"This is an agreement between the parties: the United States, Ukraine, Europe, and Russia. In our view, whether to accept Ukraine into NATO is a decision for NATO members. Our choice has already been made," Zelensky said.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions regarding Ukraine"s security and its relationship with NATO. For more information on the broader context of Ukraine"s peace initiatives, see Zelensky reveals all 20 points of Ukraine"s peace plan.
